But taking prompts right now would be silly; I have plenty of fic things to finish up (and several things to start) already. ^^ And I have been making progress! Only not tonight, for I am exhausted from work. So I am contenting myself with reorganizing my header post with purpose.
...And reposting the few drabbles I managed to get done in comments, about a month ago! *cough* Apologies for not getting to everyone's prompts there; other things took over, at the time.

My ironman fics this week came to 3k words total, you guys. I don't know how this happened - I fail at writing AUs! I think my category: au tag has exactly one other thing in it at this point. I guess I have a tendency to want all the details before I write something. And most of the time that means I never write anything AU, and for these it just meant that I tried to hash out the environment more than I probably needed to.
Also, to aid in ideas by restricting the field of possibilities - and also because I am paranoid about keeping characters recognizable - these are all FF12, and in fact are basically Fran and Balthier Do Everything. ^^

OMG you guys it's a ![[info]](http://www.insanejournal.com/img/community.gif) het_challenge fic. Way to be punctual, me. (Balthier always comes through, though. Now I need to get the people in my other two stories to cooperate.)

Yay! Done! It was supposed to be short and quick.
This is all laylah's fault. This is what you get when you... er... mention things in my vicinity. Sometimes. >_> In any case, the bunny interrupted me from working on your actual present, so hopefully this will entertain until I manage to focus like I should on things which are already late.

~1.5k words, not worksafe for sex. Um. Potential warning for gratuitousness? The timeline is also a bit undefined; I imagine it as during a Lhusu hunt mid- to late-game, but there are no plot spoilers to speak of.

My totally and completely on time gen_challenge fic. ^^;
This was originally meant to have more things happening in it, I think. It was definitely meant to be in Vaan's POV. But writing it that way was proceeding like a rock, so I let Balthier have a go at it. Balthier informs me he can go on for hundreds of words about airship mechanics anytime. ^^
For sister_coyote's prompt: What it means to be a sky pirate -- the glorious and the inglorious. Ideally with a Vaan and Penelo who are naive and inexperienced but not completely clueless. Focus on the unromantic skills necessary (mechanics and so on) is nice, too. Optional additional prompt: one part daring, one part economics, and two parts engineering.
Worksafe, at most PG. (Gen, of course.)

So! Today was interesting. A brief overview:
Last night, 2am: Lying in bed awake, I get a call. Shortly my project partner arrives, and we begin our final project writeup. (Due today. My last thing for undergrad, ever.)
Last night, 4am: Project partner leaves; writeup is not finished. Plans are made to meet again in the morning to finish it up before his 12:30pm final.
Last night, 6am: I eventually get to sleep.
This morning, 9am: I wake up!
This morning, 9:45am: Project writeup work resumes.
This afternoon, 12:20pm: Project writeup completed and turned in!
This afternoon, 1pm: I go back to sleep.
This afternoon, 5pm: I wake back up. Food, laundry, etc., commences.
Tonight, 10pm: I head off to a graduation party with old housemates!
Tonight, 2am: I arrive back at my house.
There's clearly only one thing to do at that point. ...What, sleep? No! Silly.
...write drabbles! Er. Of course.
These are bits from ideas on my things to keep in mind list, and hopefully someday at least some of them will become full-length fics. Bonus points (though not lots of bonus points) for identifying which one each comes from. No guarantees of quality, as I am still at least mildly tipsy.

So I'm completely failing at het_challenge reposts, obviously. Still two more to go after this one.
This is probably my favorite of the round. I got two Fran/Balthier prompts, as it turned out, though I only managed to take one. This one was from SS-Sturmbannführer, who is ironical_kai, and the prompt was simple: "Desire to live." (The other Balthier/Fran prompt was for genderswap, but I was doing genderswap for another prompt already, and besides, this one bunnied me more.)
The only problem with this one is that for a lot of it I kept thinking my writing felt like a sappy romance novel. I don't write romantic established-relationship fic much. ^^;

I, uh, fought with these more than usual. Not because I didn't know what to do with them - that I could usually figure out after a few minutes - but because I didn't know how to get it across in 100 words. So! A useful exercise. Also fun. :D Hopefully also entertaining?

I don't know how I'm ever going to get anything done if I keep getting ambushed by FF12 fic at inappropriate moments. I should be sleeping! I should be sleeping six hours ago! Instead I've spent the past two hours writing femslash for the first time ever.
I... okay. I thought to myself, about FF12 femslash, that the most plausible for me would be Fran/Penelo. This is no reason for the thought to come to me again at 3:30 am. It is definitely no reason for it to start scripting itself in my head.
But. Yes. Also contains some viera-speculation, because I am incapable of completely contentless porn. Though this comes pretty close. Posting it now because I'm not sure I'll have the courage to after I sleep.

So. This is about half of what I wrote the other night. The other half is really me musing on Fran's history, and doesn't really fit with this nor stand alone as a story. It stays in the notebook for me to use later for other things. ^_^
So, here is the better part. Fran and Balthier's first meeting ficlet. ~600 words, worksafe. Takes place pre-game... Perhaps hints at backstory spoilers? Nothing serious.
( She was in a tavern when she first saw him. It was hard not to, of course. He was quite deliberately courting attention. )
