My totally and completely on time ![[info]](http://www.insanejournal.com/img/community.gif) gen_challenge fic. ^^;
This was originally meant to have more things happening in it, I think. It was definitely meant to be in Vaan's POV. But writing it that way was proceeding like a rock, so I let Balthier have a go at it. Balthier informs me he can go on for hundreds of words about airship mechanics anytime. ^^
For sister_coyote's prompt: What it means to be a sky pirate -- the glorious and the inglorious. Ideally with a Vaan and Penelo who are naive and inexperienced but not completely clueless. Focus on the unromantic skills necessary (mechanics and so on) is nice, too. Optional additional prompt: one part daring, one part economics, and two parts engineering.
Worksafe, at most PG. (Gen, of course.)

I am... unexcited about this one. It came out okay, I think, and I do like this pairing even if I have trouble fitting anything of substance into canon. But despite Balthier being involved, the fic really wanted to be from Ashe's POV. And I don't really feel like I have a very good handle on Ashe. But, in any case:

So I'm completely failing at het_challenge reposts, obviously. Still two more to go after this one.
This is probably my favorite of the round. I got two Fran/Balthier prompts, as it turned out, though I only managed to take one. This one was from SS-Sturmbannführer, who is ironical_kai, and the prompt was simple: "Desire to live." (The other Balthier/Fran prompt was for genderswap, but I was doing genderswap for another prompt already, and besides, this one bunnied me more.)
The only problem with this one is that for a lot of it I kept thinking my writing felt like a sappy romance novel. I don't write romantic established-relationship fic much. ^^;

I didn't get a repost up yesterday. >_> But! Still making progress on getting these things over here, I swear!
My first het_challenge piece. Well, the first one I finished. I kinda started them all and then poked at them intermittently without making much progress until I got inspired for this one, and then managed to finish it up (almost, if you want to be technical) in time for the second posting round.
This was written for Alleya, who is kerrie13. The prompt was Tifa/Cid, "I will drink you." I had it in my head that it was going to be a line of Cid's, a drunken comeback - "I'll drink you" - but it was awkward a bit so it didn't actually make it in the fic. Still, the feeling is there. ^^;

Last springkink repost, and then I move on to het_challenge. (Reposting stuff is likely not terribly exciting for you all, I know, but I want to have everything here for completeness and on the off chance the communities crash and die or something.)
...This is probably the one that intimidated me the most, because my FFVII fandomship is much more skewed towards reading than writing, and people I admire greatly write Turks better than I think I ever could. That being said, I wanted to give it a try. And I did enjoy writing this. But rereading anything from this last batch of fic is still giving me an "urrgh" feeling, so I doubt I can give an objective assessment of quality.

Another springkink repost. This is the longest of them. It... well. Without spoiling anything: I love L/Light, and there's a time in the series that's amazing yaoi-cliche, but there are also circumstances which screw up their relationship dynamic for me, and so I hadn't been able to make sex during that time work at all in my head.
That is no longer true.
The dynamic is... well, more exploitative than L/Light usually is, or at least more slanted rather than mutually exploitative. I'm going to have to reread this fic in a while - it feels kinda fragmented to me, but I really like parts of it, so I have to see if it reads smoother when it's out of my head a bit.
This is situationally-spoilery, if you're not familiar with Death Note.

I don't know how I'm ever going to get anything done if I keep getting ambushed by FF12 fic at inappropriate moments. I should be sleeping! I should be sleeping six hours ago! Instead I've spent the past two hours writing femslash for the first time ever.
I... okay. I thought to myself, about FF12 femslash, that the most plausible for me would be Fran/Penelo. This is no reason for the thought to come to me again at 3:30 am. It is definitely no reason for it to start scripting itself in my head.
But. Yes. Also contains some viera-speculation, because I am incapable of completely contentless porn. Though this comes pretty close. Posting it now because I'm not sure I'll have the courage to after I sleep.

Second of two yaoi_challenge fics. This one was for a request by shayheyred that read: ( situational Death Note spoilers... )
So, two possible situations, really.
Now, the first situation there is kind of ridiculously appropriate, and I've wanted to write something for it forever. However, you note that I've failed at writing it thus far, which is tragic, but I can't get the power dynamics to work right in my head. So I went with the second one instead. Which, despite the fact that it inspired a story that takes place before the characters actually, um, meet in person, felt much more natural to me. Though, as I like to say in my head, the pairing's really more like L->Light and Light/his own cleverness. ^^;

Back after a couple days away. Time to repost my yaoi_challenge fics, woo!
First, Magna Carta, for a request by maho_kiwi. There are a few things to be said about this one. The first is that it's pretty awesome to stick a random kind-of-crack pairing on your offer list at the last moment, and get a request saying, "Ooh! That!" ^^; It was exciting.

Thusly, this is the one where I wrote the first 400 words the day I got the prompt. Fight scenes seem to go somewhat smoother than sex scenes, for me.
Just shy of 2k words, not particularly worksafe, but no explicit porn.

The fic I wrote yesterday. I'm not sure why backstory fic for this game is so much fun, but it is.
This was inspired by a prompt I submitted to gen_challenge (How Balthier "liberated" the Strahl). However, it's doesn't exactly deal with that, itself. Which is good. The idea behind submitting prompts is that other people write things for them, I hear.
And laylah has claimed that one and I am sure she will do an awesome job. ♥

Um. Yes. I am declaring this fic done. This fic? This is what can happen if you avoid writing a fic until done with the canon. You end up having to write the same fic anyway before your brain will focus on anything else.
Takes place after you return to Rabanastre post-escape from Nalbina, no spoilers past that point. Yes, very early on. I wanted this fic then. I am not sure how I feel about Basch/Balthier in any ongoing sort of sense, but at the request of two-months-ago-me, this really needed to happen.

So it appears the yuletide reveal has happened. *is on top of things, yes* Which means I shall post my fic here.
It was really interesting to write this. Outside of my usual area, obviously, but I really do like Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game series. Particularly the Shadow side series with Peter and Petra (and Bean, but I am rather indifferent towards Bean). Valentine I mostly felt I could take or leave, but after thinking about writing this for a bit I wonder why that was ever true - power plays and sociopathic tendencies, why wouldn't I like Peter and Valentine together?
I might've made them a more explicit pairing (the requester, alixtii, is a fan), but... incest's not really my thing, they're underage, and my experience with writing het is somewhat lacking. Mostly that last factor was the main problem. I've been corrupted so. *grin* So this is gen. At best it's implied, if you're looking.
( Valentine had always hated formal functions, in the same way she had always hated Peter. )

The reveal for this round of yaoi_challenge was last night. Yay! I really like the anonymous format, and there's still a lot of fics from the last-minute rush that I still need to read. But this important part of this post is that I'm posting links to the fics that I wrote.
A Complication. FFVII:AC, Loz/Yazoo. This one was for starherd, who requested Loz/Yazoo smut, possibly with them messing with others. She also mentioned that Rude needed more love. Love is perhaps not quite what Rude gets in this, but... y'know. The first reaction I had upon seeing this one was panic that I had to write the triplets. That lasted about five seconds before I started forming ideas for a Loz/Yazoo perving-on-Rude fic. ^_^ I had a lot of fun with this one, and it was definitely stretching my comfort zone.
Some Days. Bleach, Ishida/Ichigo. For mistressrenet, who gave the prompt "Ishida and Ichigo's terrible, awful, no-good, very bad day gets a little better." No smut in this one, just fluff and snark. What was is odd is that this one was actually a lot harder to write, despite the fact that it's a pairing I'm lots more familiar with and had nothing really experimental in it. *shrug*
Overall, I enjoyed myself a lot. I did change my ad significantly for the V-day challenge based on things I learned from this round, though. I'm signed on for two fics for that one, and am really looking forward to writing them and also seeing what everyone else comes up with. ^__^

Okay, so it's completely ridiculous to post a few minutes after midnight (well, kinda midnight - technically I'm on EST here, but psh) of a deadline you set for yourself. But deadlines help me actually get things done, and the 22nd is Seifer's birthday, so that was the day I picked.
So. Yes. This is a gift fic for laylah. Apparently 'tis the season for Seifer/Zell.
~3k words, in which I invent a new instrument of bondage type of training equipment... for no apparent reason. Warning for dubcon. Also, apparently Zell makes me abuse italics.

Yeah, I know: OMG, fic? It's been so long!
The story is I went to the coffee shop where I get most of my writing done, fully intending to finish up a yaoi_challenge fic. But I wrote the fun part of that one over the weekend, and I was feeling too giddy today to make myself work on the parts of it still "required" for the fic to be "coherent." Heh. So I came back to this one! Because Raul is much fun. And I finished it up tonight, because actually finishing things is nice. Finishing things I can actually post here doubly so.
So. About 1.5k words of gratuitous Calintz/Raul smut. No, really. Completely gratuitous. And possibly more smutty than I was intending when I started it a few months ago, but that can only be good, right? :-P Note: Hardest part of Magna Carta smut = figuring out how the hell you get those clothes off.
No major plot spoilers. A few mentions of game events (boss fights and such) - if you've gotten to where Raul and Calintz meet, you're totally safe.
