Housewarming drabbles!
Haha, I bet you guys thought I'd completely forgotten about these! ...or possibly you guys just forgot about these yourselves. orz
After the few I did in comments, and then the break for CFUD, I'd been sort of pathologically avoiding them, which is... never a good sign for quality drabbles. But then suddenly yesterday I wanted to do them again, so I did all the rest last night and today! Don't look at me, guys. I don't even know. Maybe I should try and magically finish everything else on my list before I snap out of it.
Four of these were posted already, in comments. The other eight are new.
...Some of them stretch the 'living together' part a bit, but there's only so many ways to make that interesting in itself.
for
laylah, but mostly for myself: Viral and Rossiu
Notes: SPOILERS FOR GURREN LAGANN. The whole series. If vaguely.
True, there was a lot of work to do, and Rossiu had been living at the office lately. But it was still worrying that he didn't notice Viral approach until he snorted, leaning against the doorway.
"What are you doing here this late?" Rossiu asked after finishing scribbling a note.
"I don't sleep. And you wanted to see me."
"Ah. Right. I just wanted to say you can leave the government, if you like. I know since Simon –"
"Like hell." Viral growled. "You're building a real military, right? You're an idiot if you think I'm keeping out of that."
for
laylah really: AXM boys (Graham and Ladd)
Ladd Russo played favorites. Everyone knew that, and it was good to be one of them. It was just – usually that happened after you were in AXM, not before.
Ladd slings an arm over the kid's shoulder. "Graham here's the best auto mechanic in three states."
One of the others goes, "Maybe you can help with the prank, then? We're gonna get the chancellor's car, and –"
"Dismantle it?" Graham interrupts. "Sneak in, dismantle the car, take all the pieces apart carefully, and –"
"Rebuild it on top of the building." Ladd grins.
"...if you want, Ladd." Graham says happily.
for
shiegra: Chane and Orihime
It was too strange. It was stranger than the fact that she was here at all, attending school with normal people. Stranger than the fact that she was living here among them. Stranger than the fact people smiled at her as she walked down the hall.
That this girl would come knock on Chane's bedroom door and offer to share her homemade food – when she didn't even really know who Chane was – that was stranger even than the dish itself. All the parts of it were individually identifiable, but overall it was incomprehensible.
And yet Chane found herself liking both.
for
regicidaldwarf: Mitsuru and Yoruichi
For a first time out, it's not bad. The officer's barracks seem tolerable, at least, and Mitsuru's only sharing with one other so far – a Major Yoruichi Shihouin.
She grins when Mitsuru returns after her shift. "Long first day, Lieutenant?" She strips off her uniform coat and tosses it carelessly over her bunk.
"Yes. I expect it'll improve – I'm just a bit jetlagged, although the schedule here certainly is..." She trails off, because the major has just... continued stripping, until she's standing there without a stitch on.
"Alright?" Major Shihouin grins, like it's perfectly normal.
Mitsuru's face feels hot. "Fine."
for
white_aster: Greed and Luck
Notes: proooobably later in the same continuity as the Ronnie and Greed thing from last time?
"Ronnie's out for the night," the man in the suit says. "Are you an alchemist, then?"
Greed grins, enough to flash the points of his teeth, but the guy's expression stays placid. "Not quite. Are you?"
"I leave that to the men in the back, I'm afraid. I just run the bar," he says.
"That so? You're still a very important man, then," Greed leans on the counter. "Who are you?"
"Luck Gandor," the man says. "And you?"
"You can call me Greed."
Luck just arches an eyebrow. "Will you be staying the night? We have a spare room upstairs."
for
mahokiwi: Simon and Firo
The guy's new, of course. He's built tough, but his hands look like they've seen more broken beer bottles than clean punches.
"Your cellmate is that other pretty boy, right?" He snorts. "You must–"
"Shut up," Simon says brightly. "Who the hell do you think I am?"
The guy doesn't even notice Firo coming up behind him. One quick strike to a pressure point, and the guy slumps over.
"Oh, sorry about that! I didn't see you there."
Simon gives him a thumbs up and a grin. Firo sighs as the guards approach, but he can't help smiling back.
for
sheffiesharpe: Shinjiro, Akihiko, Vossler and Basch
Notes: this AU probably was vaguely related to Persona Trinity Soul... sometime in a distant past life >_>
"I still don't know what the hell you think these guys can teach us, Aki," Shinjiro says as he throws his suitcase down on his bunk. "S'not like some old fart cops know the first thing about fighting with personas."
"That's not the point. We have to pass the training here before – Captain Ronsenberg," Aki says suddenly, and Shinjiro lazily turns to face the door.
The cop looks amused, at least, not pissed. "Your welcome briefing with Captain Azelas begins in five minutes."
"Thank you, sir." Aki says. "We'll be there." Shinjiro smirks as soon as the guy turns away.
for
calligraph: Tatsuki and Renji
Notes: this is... not actually related to anything else ever
"What the hell are you doing here, girl?"
Tatsuki looked down pointedly at her shinigami robes, tossed her squad assignment papers on the desk, and said, "What the hell does it look like I'm doing here?" Renji blinked at her. "Sorry. What the hell does it look like I'm doing here, Captain."
"Ha!" Renji grinned. "Good enough. For Ichigo's friend." He moved her papers onto the increasingly large stack on his desk and stood up. "I'll show you around. The squad barracks are down this way. Then, to our training ground." Tatsuki grinned back. "I'm sure you'll fit in fine."
for
lassarina: Mitsuru and Akihiko
"The second floor is the boys' floor." Mitsuru Kirijo says. "You can pick whichever room you like."
"Thanks," Akihiko says, and takes a few steps before her words penetrate through her matter-of-fact tone."…Wait. There's no one else on the floor?"
"Correct. At the moment, we are the only two living in these dorms." She looks away.
"…Oh." The lounge suddenly seems more wide and empty than it had when he walked in.
Mitsuru doesn't take her eyes off the wall. "If you'd rather stay in the regular dorms until –"
"No, it's fine. It's great!"
Mitsuru smiles at him, then.
for
redbird: Renji and Akihiko
Notes: c-crossover with Soul Eater? WHAT IT TOTALLY MAKES SENSE
"Shinji wouldn't come," Akihiko sighed. "He'd just say I was being stupid and picking fights I didn't have to."
"Isn't that what we're doing?" Renji asked.
"Well… yeah, but –"
"Nah, it's okay, I get it," Renji scratched the back of his head. "Rukia admires him too much, but I want to take the guy down a peg too."
"Yeah. We'll show Byakuya the power of having a weapon with spirit." Akihiko grinned. "Think you can wield me?"
Renji shrugged and grinned back. "Might as well try," and held out his hand to grab the axe handle as Akihiko transformed.
for
pinstripesuit: Ronnie and Urahara
Notes: probably in the same continuity where Yoruichi's hanging around the Daily Days :3
Even in the dark of the hotel lounge Urahara could tell that the man in the corner wasn't a normal human, but somehow he couldn't pinpoint what he was. He noticed Urahara's attention despite the dark, and walked across the room.
"Can I help you?"
"Perhaps." Urahara hedged. "I'm looking for someone."
"For me?" The man asked, sounding vaguely amused.
"Afraid not," Urahara pulled his fedora down lower over his face. "A woman friend of mine."
"Is she as unique as you?" He could hear the man's smile, even if he couldn't see it.
Urahara smiled himself. "Even more so."
for Allie (not on IJ still?): Yukari and Zuko
"Erichthonius is good with fire," Zuko said to Minato proudly.
"Wha-at? More fire? Geez, what is it with you guys? Aren't Stupei and Koro-chan enough firepower? You guys should make your personas learn some healing skills, so I don't have to do it all the time." Yukari pouted.
Zuko fumed. "Shut up. Fire's the best. And it's not like…"
"I don't think persona skills work that way, Takeba." Mitsuru put in calmly.
"What's your persona's weakness, Zuko?" Minato asked.
"Er. Fire." Zuko muttered.
Yukari laughed and Mitsuru raised an eyebrow, but Minato just said, "Interesting," and kept his unreadable expression.
