2007: The year in fic
I wrote a lot of fic this past year, compared to what I've done previously. Probably more this year than all time previous to this year combined. But still little enough that I can feasibly do this meme, so I shall!

I will consider it an accomplishment if in 2008 I do even more, so a similar review is too intimidating to complete. ^^

I am not including drabbles; for those, see my drabble tag. Also, most of these before August were originally posted on LJ, but I'm linking to the versions over here.

January
First Impressions. FF12, Fran and Balthier. ~600 words. Worksafe.
My first attempt at FF12 fic - Fran and Balthier's first meeting. I like it okay, for feeling things out, though I began regretting the "prefer men" line a few weeks after I posted.

To Feel Human Again. FF12, Basch/Balthier. ~2k words. Not worksafe.
(Was it that long ago that I wrote this?) An early-game Basch/Balthier bit, inspired by the scene that made me really love Balthier. Also the only scene that really struck me as Basch/Balthier-ish at the time.

Glorious Vagabond. FF12, Balthier and Jules. ~1.5k words. Worksafe.
Balthier backstory fic! I still like this one a lot, and the vague lines of it if not the specific events form the basis for all the Jules/Balthier fic I've written.

To The Victor. Magna Carta, Orha/Calintz.~2k words. Not worksafe.
A yaoi_challenge fic. I had a lot of fun with this one.

Playing the Part. Death Note, L/Light. ~1.5k words. Not worksafe.
A second yaoi_challenge fic. Really "L->Light and Light/his own cleverness," said I at the time, which is true. They haven't yet met in person for this fic. This was also a fun dynamic.

Companionship. FF12, Fran/Penelo. ~1k words. Not worksafe.
My first (and to date only? at least full-length) attempt at explicit femslash.

March
Three Spren appreciation ficbits. Bleach, Tatsuki/Orihime & Renji/Ichigo, and Samurai Champloo, Jin/Mugen. About 200 words each. Borderline worksafe.
Someday I will manage something warmer than bittersweet for Tatsuki and Orihime. The other two bits are a lot more fun. Mmm, rivalslash.

Close Enough For Fisticuffs. FF12, Jules/Balthier. ~1.5k words. Not worksafe.
This was so much fun to write. And I'd known it needed to happen for a while before I wrote it.

Springkink part 1. 6 ficbits. 3 Bleach, various.1 FFVII, Elena/Reno.1 FFXII, Drace/Gabranth, 1 FMA, Greed/Envy. Overall not worksafe.
Trying new things, with mediocre results, I feel. I would do almost all the pairings again with more time and inspiration, though.

To Lie Flawlessly. Death Note, L/Light. ~2k words. Not worksafe - dubious consent.
A springkink bit that got away from me. It was really interesting to work on.

Romance. FF12, Balthier. ~800 words. Not worksafe - masturbation.
More springkink. I like this one a lot. It's so pretty and calm and hot. ^^

Off Balance. FF7, Reno/Rude. ~1k words. Not worksafe.
More springkink. Turkporn intimidates me a lot to write, because I feel everything I could do I've read done better; but I think this came out okay.

Something Stronger. FF7, Tifa/Cid. ~1.5k words. Not worksafe.
het_challenge. Has the distinction of being one of the few pieces of het porn I've written from the female PoV.

Dynamics. FF12, Fran/Balthier. ~2k words. Not worksafe.
het_challenge. One of my favorites. Balthier makes things easy, ^^

Delicate Negotiations. FF12, Ashe/Balthier. ~1k words. Not worksafe.
More het_challenge. Not terribly enthralling. >_>

Peripheral Systems. FF12, Balthier, Vaan, Fran & Penelo. ~1k words, worksafe.
For gen_challenge - the party and airship mechanics. Balthier comes through for me again. ^^

July
Recompense. FF12, Cid/Vayne. ~1.7k words. Not worksafe.
From springkink again. I'd forgotten this one entirely! But rereading it I like it a lot. I did remember that it made me want Vayne/Ffamran, though. :D

Haunting. FF12, Venat/Cid. ~1k words. Not worksafe.
I liked this one a lot. Now, though, the lack of iambic pentameter for Venat bothers me greatly. >_>

A Shared Act. FF12, Fran/Basch. ~1.5k words. Not worksafe.
Was a pseudo-present for laylah, considering I still haven't finished what was intended as her birthday present. *cough* Sometimes, though, my brain goes "I can write this now; it goes like this" and there's not much to do but listen to it.

Four Years Gone. FF12, Penelo/Ashe. ~1.2k words. Worksafeish.
I'm not sure my older!Penelo bears much resemblance to Penelo in Revenant Wings, but I like her anyway.

Red Hot. Ouran Host Club, Kasanoda/Haruhi.Worksafeish?
I ♥ Kasanoda a lot. I wish his anime bit hadn't hit my misunderstanding squick quite so hard. Thus!

Near-Vetinari Experience. Discworld, Vetinari and Death. ~900 words. Worksafe.
Came out not bad for the intimidation factor of the characters involved, I think.

August
Decompose. FF12, Fran/Balthier. ~1k words. Worksafeish.
het_challenge. In Nalbina Dungeon. Balthier comes through again! Well, really Fran, in the story. But Balthier for PoV writing purposes, as usual.

Calculated Risk. FF12, Penelo/Larsa. ~1.7k words. Not worksafe.
Larsa's PoV was really odd to write here, but I think it came out pretty well.

Ironman Week 1 - Painfic. FF8 - Zell->Squall, FMA - Martel, House MD - Cameron->House, Death Note - Light/Misa, Death Note - Light/Mikami. Pretty worksafe except the last, which is borderline.
The Light/Mikami (cyberpunk AU!) is my favorite from this batch.

September
Ironman week 2 - Smut. FF12 - Reddas/Balthier, Bleach - Tatsuki/Orihime, FF12 - Jules/Ffamran, FF12 - Venat/Cid, FMA - Lust/male. Not worksafe.
The Reddas/Balthier and particularly the Jules/Ffamran are my favorite of these. I am possibly somewhat predictable. ^^;

Ironman week 3 - Fluff. Bleach - Yoruichi/Soi Fong, FF12 - Basch/Gabranth, FFX-2 - Nooj/Gippal/Baralai, FF12 - Basch/Vossler, Ouran - Haruhi/Tamaki. Borderline worksafe.
I like the X-2 bit; I still have to do something serious with those three. The 12 bit is also not bad. ... Straight fluff is hard for me.

Easy Manipulation. FFX-2, Seymour/Baralai. 500 words. Pretty worksafe.
kinkfest fic, but this needed to be written anyway, and a few bits were harvested from an earlier attempt.

Ironman week 4 - AU. All FF12, Fran and/or Balthier, others. Longer than the other weeks.
I like all of these! :D But particularly the mafia one. I love that one lots.

Ironman week 5 - Humor. FF7 - Reno & Rude, Firefly - River et al, Bleach - Ikkaku & Yumichika, Magna Carta/FF12, Samurai Champloo.
I actually like most of these pretty well considering how forced I felt they were at the time. Arg, humor on demand.

Moving Too Fast. Bleach, Yoruichi/Soi Fong. 700 words. Not worksafe.
I like this, but I feel it does not quite do them justice. Something awesome with them is on my list of things to get done at some point.

Ironman week 6 - Kink/Cliche. Death Note, Magna Carta, FF12. Not worksafe.
I - I kind of like most of these too! This is so odd, considering how much I felt like I was forcing mediocre fic at the time.

Ironman week 7 - Writer's Choice. Death Note, Magna Carta, FF12, Bleach.
I... definitely see signs of burnout in these ones. Still some interesting bits though.

Kink ficbits. FF12, Persona 3, Bleach/FF12 crossover. Pretty worksafe.
Being some of the the ones I took forever to finish, I didn't post them until I liked them. ^^;

Like a Persona Rising. Persona 3, Aigis. ~1k words. Worksafe.
Moderately introspective Aigis fic.

Thrill-Seeking. Discworld, Vetinari/Moist. ~800 words. Not worksafe.

...Man, that took significantly longer than I planned. I have written more fic than I thought! And a substantial amount of it was smut! This mostly makes me happy. :D
