I am now vector @ Dreamwidth.Assume everything will be only posted over there until further notice. Edit to add: Okay, I guess I can be a bit less terse. Dreamwidth is currently looking really good to me! So I think I'll be just posting over there for now, as a sort of incentive for people to move and also so I have everything in one place instead of three. If the site becomes substantially unstable or I end up losing touch with people I may reconsider. The site is currently in open beta, which means you can join if you buy a paid account or if you have an invite! This is sort of both for ![[info]](http://www.insanejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) laylah's prompt ("lack of consent - the blade on your skin is what matters to me" ) and Jack's ("matching scars"), but I think mostly it is the Stein/Spirit I've needed to write for months. >_> Apparently I need kicking occasionally. PS everyone is still free to leave (more) prompts.
This is pre-series by quite a bit - they're probably mid-teens here - and not spoilery for anything more than the backstory you get in episode 5/chapter 2.

HI I haven't posted to this journal in a while.
Let me spin you a tale of woe. This past weekend was SakuraCon, and I was excited for the dealers room, because I have a new, somewhat popular fandom! That being Soul Eater, of course. However, there wasn't actually as much merchandise as I'd hoped. I did find some doujin, but I am not actually terribly interested in a) Kid/Black Star or b) exploitative hentai with Maka or Liz and Patty. I did pick up a few Stein/Spirit books, which were pretty! But there were no scalpels or sadism involved in any of it; it was tragic. And I didn't see anything with Medusa at all.
Today I was poking at springkink on LJ, which had a few Soul Eater prompts that were suffering from some of the same issues, minus the hentai. TRAVESTY.
And, you know, it turns out I really want to write more Soul Eater fic. So. This is a call for prompts.
Give me:
- a character or pairing from Soul Eater (variety is good)
- a phrase/line/lyric/song/something as a prompt
- (optional) a kink
You can give me as many as you want. In fact, please give me lots. I may not write all (or any) of it, and what I write may be anywhere from a drabble (100 words) to full-length fic, but I really want to write things. Give me some cool prompts, you guys. Even if you have never talked to me before, if you see this somehow and you know Soul Eater, please prompt me.

...Hey guys! This is a rec me new things to read/watch/play post!
Anime, manga, video game, TV show, movie, book. Anything, really, although if it's a video game it might take me longer to get to it. ^^; Doesn't have to be new. Just give me some stuff I might like!
The only criteria I am imposing for this is that it must have:
1) Multiple interesting female characters.
Not a smattering of female side characters. Not one who is The Love Interest. Not one woman among the half-dozen protagonists/antagonists. Multiple interesting female characters. In equal proportion to the male characters would be ideal.
2) Interesting m/f relationships.
Not necessarily romantic. Maybe they're partners, working together. Or maybe they're friends. Or rivals. Or something twisted and broken. Or maybe it is romantic, but in a real and unique way rather than Hollywood!heteronormative. I am flexible. And again, multiple sets of relationships wouldn't hurt.
Note that I am not saying that things that don't meet these criteria can't be good; I know they can. But anything about which the question "Are there any women at all?" can be reasonably asked (which I think I have heard about, like. three canons I was considering, lately) is turning me off horribly right now. (Even if the answer is "Yes! ...A few.") So.
...I will start things off by once again reccing Soul Eater. ^_^;

I started to do the "first sentence of each month" meme, but my first post this January was the 2007 version of this, so I decided this would be more interesting. At least for me, and hopefully for other people, too. ^^; And hey, it's almost like new content.
If last year's fandom was FF12, this year's was ... Baccano/Persona 3.

...Well, that was informative! Compared to last year, I wrote a lot less, but mostly only because of... writing nothing for half of the year. And when I did write, it seems like it was stuff I liked better.
P-probably because this year, when I failed at challenges, I failed entirely and spectacularly, instead of writing a few hundred words of mediocre nothing. >_>

...It's actually been so long I don't remember if I've even flailed about Soul Eater properly here. Short version: Soul Eater is awesome, both anime and manga. The story is pretty much exactly the same up through episode 36 of the anime, where it's just starting to diverge. You can read the manga here.

Oh hey I actually posted fic last night! And I totally meant to link to it before I got distracted by the democratic process. ^^;
...In addition to failing at writing, I've been failing epically at keeping up with my flist lately. Really I've been pretty much failing at anything that's not work, sleep, or RP. Er, and actually, I think I only manage to succeed about two of those three at any particular point in time.
But, you know... I do have some kinkfest prompts that I really like. So, only a few days late, here's one - in the original tradition of kinkfest, short and with kink.

Because I feel like I haven't been interacting on IJ much at all lately, and because it seems like there haven't been fun antics in a while, and further because it's a lot easier to ration my internet-poking at work when I have something specific to poke at during downtimes instead of looking for something new to occupy my attention every five seconds:
Let's have a round of the fuck/marry/cliff game!
Basic rules of the game, if you're unfamiliar: You pick three characters. Any fandom I'm remotely familiar with is good. I then have to choose one of them to fuck, one to marry, and one to throw off a cliff.
To make this equally fun on both sides, I will also say that after I've finished explaining my choices, I'll give a set of three back to you. You can then do the same, and we go on like that until one of us gets bored or distracted by something else!
Only one other stipulation: No one is allowed to put Gustavo Baggetta in any of my sets again. >_>

Because it's the in thing, and I feel like I have hardly posted here at all since I got into camp (...possibly because I have been failing at writing anything orz) - my kinkfest claims!
Only three for now - there are a bunch more on my list, and a couple that I would particularly love to do, but I do not have faith in my ability to complete them so I am holding off claiming any others for now. ^^;

So, uh, you guys may have noticed that I requested housewarming drabbles, did a few of them, and then mostly fell of the face of the internet for a while?
That is because on Tuesday night I went "...crap. The CFUD app window opens Friday, and I don't even have a first draft of my app done yet. aaarghh!" So guess where the rest of the week went!
BUT it all ended in success!

Con was awesome. The only big thing I might've changed (if I had the magical power to do so) was to be more awake-feeling during it. ^^; I got home last night around midnight, and slept until 10:30 or so; I'm still kind of sleepy, but better, and I keep remembering things and grinning even more than I did at the time. ^___^ I got to meet in person and hang out with so many awesome people! That's what a con is all about. Convening. ^^ And porn on the internet = totally the best way to make friends
Unfortunately I have exactly one picture on my camera. But most of the time I was with other people more successful at photography, so when pictures become available I will be sure to point people there. ^^
In other news, though!
Today was scheduled recovery day, for obvious reasons. After getting up and lazing about a bit, I had to head over to my parents' to pick up my cats. My parents have cats of their own, but mine were staying isolated in one room. We did, however, do an experiment while I was there, bringing in the nicest of my parents' cats (Star, my old cat) in to say hi to Fran and Balthier.
...Star was pretty upset about this, sort of huddling by the door and hissing whenever she looked over at the others, but Fran and Balthier just sort of laid there calmly and watched. So at least my cats will probably take their new friends fairly well, when I move this weekend. ^^;
I also ended up having to stay around for dinner, and this meant I hung around and watched my dad play Lost Odyssey. Which was... entertaining. You see, my dad has never played an RPG before (the closest to an RPG was Mass Effect, and he didn't finish it). So he kept saying things like "there are so many cut scenes" "what, I have to micromanage equipment" "there's this complicated system with the elements of the monsters" "what, it's game over if my whole party dies?" "why do I have to run around the whole environment and see if anything gives me a 'press A' prompt?" To which I kept replying "That is pretty standard for RPGs." And occasionally "And nicer than some." And I helped him finish the first boss battle. ^^;
The game itself looks pretty interesting, though, from the hour or so I watched. And the graphics are amazingly fancy. I will probably check it out myself eventually, although DDS is my first priority at this point.
Speaking of which! I'm probably going to start DDS this evening, and as usual, I'll probably be playing it without a guide. I'm pretty sure I'm spoiled for a bunch of stuff already - or at least will be when I start getting enough context for everything I've heard over the past two years to snap into place - but I'm trying to avoid being spoiled any more.
HOWEVER I seem to remember there are some particularly important dialogue choices I should know about?

mahokiwi, I kind of hate that you play Ladd in camp. Hate in the... good way?
You see, I got home from dinner and I still had a Firefox tab open to Ladd's thread with Harry, so I went back and read the one with Jinana too. And also the last couple of threads from July. And also your post on how Ladd relates to other people.
And it was all pretty hilarious and/or awesome!
My problem, you see, is that I can't read things without wanting to play. So now I'm really really wanting to play. -_-; More so than I have been hearing people talk about it, even. And I am pretty sure I don't have the time for that!
...Someone convince me of this, please.
In the meantime I suppose I will take my laptop to bed and attempt to write fic until my brain shuts up a bit. >_>;
